The Small Business Administration's Form 1010c Business Plan is a substantial multi-page document that provides the Small Business Administration the information necessary to determine if your firm’s growth projections, business development requirements and capitalization needs are realistic, properly planned and managed. The SBA also uses the information in your 1010c business plan to determine if SBA sponsored training, financing or bonding assistance would help your company meet its objectives.
The SBA Form 1010c is somewhat different in style and in format from other business plans you might have seen before in books or online. That is because the SBA Form 1010C was specifically developed by the United States government to elicit information the federal government requires for the management and administration of 8(a) program participants and SBA sponsored loan applicants. Thus you will find that the information contained in Business Plan Form 1010C differs from the categories of information provided in other business plans. The eligibility rules for the SBA 8(a) Business Development program mandate that participating firms must submit, and obtain SBA’s approval of a business plan before they are eligible to receive 8(a) contracts. Business plans must be submitted to the SBA within 30 days after participants have been formally approved to participate in the 8(a) program. In most cases, 8(a) program participants should bring their completed 1010c business plan with them to the new 8(a) program participant orientation session. If you need more time to complete your 1010c business plan, you may formally request an extension be granted by your designated Business Development Specialist.
